Congratulations Greenbelt Legion!
Greenbelt played their hearts out and won the Maryland State American Legion Title today in a grueling, 18 inning battle with Severna Park. Final score in the bottom of the 18th was 8-7. The team showed real poise and deep down determination to finish with a sweep of the State tournament 5 wins and 0 losses. The team record is now 43-1.
Greenbelt was down in the 4th inning 7-0 and battled back to tie it by the 7th.
Dan Nicol, Ryan Reese, Brett Cecil and Matt Capece combined their incredible pitching talents to hold Severna to no runs for 10 innings.
Congratulations to Steven Gonzalez for winning the tournament's overall MVP award.
