Maryland State Tournament

Greenbelt wins at the Shorebird Stadium 4-1 against Oakland (Mountain District).  Game time was 7pm.  Robbie Campbell was again the star as he pitched a complete 9 inning game.  Several big hits and plays by the defense gave Greenbelt the victory.

Greenbelt started out strong when Joseph Palumbo's walk turned into a run from David Russell's single.  David made things happen by coming home on a passed ball.  The boys held them 2-0 for 6 innings with Robbie averaging a strike out each inning.

In the bottom of the 6th, Oakland scored one run from a controversial balk call.  The controversy continued  in the top of the 7th when Nick Jowers was called out at 2nd.  Coach Prange went out to talk to the 2nd base umpire to gently ask him to re-think his decision.

In the top of the 8th, Brian Chesnick hit a double to drive Dave Russell home, making it 3-1. Matt Capece wanted that insurance run when he turned his single into a double and then coming home on Joe Palumbo's bunt.  Final score 4-1.  Way to go, Greenbelt!
